Fall Garden Tour

Fall Garden Tour

After installing my raised beds, I was extremely excited to plant a fall garden. There were several greens I wanted to plant including spinach, mustard, swiss chard, corn salad, and purple kale.

Last year this time I planted my very first garden. It was really a test to see if the soil in that area would grow anything. I planted purple cosmic carrots and bunching onions. They grew! The image below was my first harvest.

The seeds I ordered came from Baker Creek Heirloom seeds. They are my favorite seed company because they have a million heirloom varieties to choose from. Most of the seeds for this fall garden were actually free varieties they sent with my other seed purchases. Below in order of appearance are photos of my little seedlings – mustard, corn salad, spinach, purple kale, cilantro, chives, and swiss chard.

The tiny seedlings are growing fairly slowly. We shall see if they hold up to the upcoming frosts. Either way, it is so nice to have half of my new raised beds in the garden and have the opportunity to test out the new soil before next spring. See below video tour of the fall garden and also the journey of transforming my garden into raised beds.
