Homemade Moisturizing Whipped Body Butter Recipe

Homemade Moisturizing Whipped Body Butter Recipe

In this winter season of dry and itchy skin, I think we can all agree we are reaching for the lotion and lip moisturizer more frequently! This homemade body butter is so densely packed with moisture, it’s difficult to want to use store bought lotion again after making the switch. What’s even better is most of the ingredients necessary are already laying around your home. The more difficult ones to find, I will link below. This recipe was intended to be used on the body. I personally wouldn’t recommend it to be used on your face. After melting together, I divided the mixture into two containers so I could make a girly scent and a manly scent for my fiancé. The amount below fit perfectly into (2) 2.1 oz containers.

What you’ll need:

  • Half Pint Mason Jars (or small jars with lids)
  • Coconut Oil
  • Olive Oil
  • Shea butter
  • Beeswax
  • Arrowroot Powder or Corn Starch
  • Essential Oil for Scent

Ingredients: (Yields 1 half pint mason jar)

  • 2 tbsp Coconut Oil
  • 2 tbsp Olive Oil
  • 2 tbsp Shea Butter
  • 2 tbsp Beeswax
  • 1 tsp Arrowroot Powder or Corn Starch
  • 10-20 drops of Essential Oil

Directions:

Step 1 – Take a medium sauce plan and melt the coconut oil, olive oil, shea butter, and beeswax together.

Step 2 – Once it is combined transfer it to a freezer safe container and let it re-solidify. This shouldn’t take but about 15 minutes.

Step 3 – Take the mixture out of the freezer and put it in a glass or metal bowl.

Step 4 – Add in the 10 drops of your essential oil(s) of choice. You can leave the body butter unscented as well. Add in the arrowroot powder or cornstarch

Step 5 – Use an immersion blender and whip the body butter until it reaches the desired consistency.

Step 6 – Place in a jar with lid for storage.
